Birds are everywhere. No matter where you are, you’ll see birds. Big birds, little birds, goldfinches, cardinals, crows, doves. Where these birds are, you’ll find birdwatchers. Birdwatchers yearly get excited about one event in particular that helps out birds of all types — the Backyard Bird Count!
The Backyard Bird Count is held every year around President’s Day weekend, and put simply, is a tally of the birds you find around you. This gives a better estimate of the birds in your local area, where they’re coming from, where they’re going, their habits, their numbers in population, and their general health.
Does this sound like something right up your alley? It’s a fun activity for kids and grownups alike! What’s even better is that you can win a free reusable tote bag just for seeing some birds. Take part in any of the backyard bird counts and visit our Backyard Bird Count Contest Page to enter!

Get your eBay auctions noticed!
eBay sounds like a simple place to sell your items, and it is…once you get the hang of it. Fortunately, there’s hundreds of free tutorials online that will instruct you on how to sell. I’ve created a single page resource based on my personal selling experiences of how to make money on eBay by optimizing your auctions for success. If you’re going to sell, why not do it the right way and get more bids?
Before you shrug it off, think about what you’re auctions look like to buyers and ask yourself these questions:
- Are you fully using the entire keyword title to your advantage? Are people searching for the words you are using? Did you check?
- Do you have multiple large pictures of the items you are selling? Are they clear and attractive to buyers, or blurry, small and lacking definition?
- Is your auction full of keywords? Is it nice to look at, or just a few sentences long with a brief description? This is a buyer turn off, and you’re telling the buyer that you don’t care.
- When are your buyers online? Do you know who your buyers are on ebay?
-
Are you advertising outside of ebay, or relying solely on them to promote your store? If you are waiting for their promotion, you’ll be waiting a long time!
- Do you have an about me page? Buyers check this!
- Is your MyWorld page set up? Buyers check this too!
- Do you use eBay’s blog to your advantage?
- Are your policies clearly stated in the listing?
- Is the item condition clearly and obviously stated in a place that buyers will see it? Prevent future headaches and get higher bids by being honest with your customers.
